A hotel family business for over 50 years

Under the New Hotel banner is a group of 9 3*, 4* and 500-room hotels, owned by Georges Antoun and his two daughters Caroline and Camille.

The two sisters definitely fell into the business when they were little. The Antoun family’s hotel business is a story of family and transmission, which is now taking a new turn in its development.

It’s a family story that began with Hannah and Jean, Lebanese who settled in Marseille in 1903. The city and its port, at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, became a transit point for many emigrants. Jean acted as an intermediary for the new arrivals, offering them a pied-à-terre in the family home acquired in 1920 in Bompard, on the heights of the Corniche.

In May 1968, their grandson Georges came up with the idea of turning the family guesthouse into a hotel. The New Hotel collection, “the new hotels of all time”, took shape at the same pace as the plan to move into Paris. In 1985, this goal was achieved with the acquisition of the Hôtel Roblin on Place de la Madeleine.

The group continued to grow, choosing to acquire and renovate hotels in city centers steeped in history. New buildings, such as the New Hotel Of Marseille, are not excluded either, but the focus is on creating “embodied” and unique establishments.

A STORY THAT CONTINUES

It’s been 50 years since the family guesthouse was transformed into a full-fledged hotel.
The New Hotel collection now includes 9 establishments in Marseille, Paris and Brussels, and the family saga continues under the impetus of Georges Antoun’s daughters Caroline and Camille.
The first, Caroline, “came into the hotel business by passion” after studying at business school, and worked at the prestigious George V.
The second, Camille, a graduate of ESAG Penninghen, moved from graphic design to image management at Nina Ricci for almost 10 years, before joining the family business.

Caroline is now in charge of management/operations of the group’s hotels, while Camille is in charge of communications/art direction/decoration, with a particular focus on renovation projects.
